I am grateful to be able to greet the sun each morning and walk in the footsteps of my ancestors, who paved the way so that I might find my path. I enjoy life’s simple pleasures, like the sound of the ocean, laughter from children playing, and the challenging relationship with golf, a game Ken Venturi described as, “A simple game where you find out what works, then you lose it, and then find it again.”
Sports was the elixir that sparked my journey. There was something magical about team competition that got my attention. Watching a group of individuals make sacrifices to perform as one in harmony with each other was special. As a life long educator, I enjoyed the privilege of teaching, training, and coaching students from K-12 to higher education. From those experiences I concluded that with the right tools and the right motivation, all students can learn.
I might have a few regrets, but none that keep me awake at night. My journey has taken me to many places where I experienced the ebb and flow of life’s challenges. I have questioned my choices, welcomed opportunities, and embraced change. I walked a tightrope, led from the front, carried the load, and took up the slack. I checked my swing, took a third strike, survived broken promises, and fell in and out of love; all of which led to memories that will last a lifetime.
I have entered a new phase in life where I have turned my attention to writing books/novels for enjoyment. Challenging for sure, but the satisfaction is rewarding. So, pursue your passion, and don’t let anyone define who you are.
